Rachel Blackburn

Dr. Rachel Blackburn is a stage director, performer, and Assistant Professor in the Theatre Department at Columbus State University. Rachel holds a Ph.D. from the University of Kansas (2018), an M.F.A. from Virginia Commonwealth University (2013), and a B.A. from the Conservatory of Theatre Arts at Webster University (2005). Her long-time interest in transnational collaboration led to her directing and performing in theatres around the globe, including stints in London, Dublin, Toronto, and New York City. Her academic research and publications live at the intersections of humor, race, gender, sexuality, (dis)ability, transnational, and performance studies. At CSU, she is the cofounder of the Busted Open Canon Staged Reading Series, and was a top finalist for CSU’s Educator of the Year, 2019.
