HERB PARKER is Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance with East Tennessee State University. He is the author of “Acting Shakespeare is Outrageous! Playing the Bard for Beginners,” and “A Monologue is an Outrageous Situation! How to Survive the 60-Second Audition,” published by Routledge Focal Press. Some of his directing credits at ETSU include ANTIGONE, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK, OTHELLO, RACE, THE TROJAN WOMEN, CAESAR 2012, (his adaptation of JULIUS CAESAR), CAT ON A HOT TIN ROOF, AS YOU LIKE IT, and HAMLET. His productions of SIX CHARACTERS IN SEARCH OF AN AUTHOR, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM and LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS all received the KCACTF “Excellence in Directing” Meritorious Achievement Award. His most recent acting role was Simon in THE WHIPPING MAN with Oldcastle Theatre Company, during the 2018 season. Professor Parker is a proud long-time member of Actors’ Equity Association.
