SETC is pleased to welcome one of the grandmothers of the Indigenous theatre movement in the U.S. and Canada as our 2019 Distinguished Career Award Recipient and Saturday Keynote. She is a director, playwright, choreographer, actor and educator. As founder and artistic director of Spiderwoman Theatre, the longest running Indigenous women’s theatre company in North America, she has directed almost all of Spiderwoman’s shows since their debut in 1976, in which time, they have written and produced over 20 original works.
